Press Release 10.01.2012

RIOT’s new album ‘IMMORTAL SOUL’ has been rocking the reviewers’ end-of-year charts worldwide and still continues to pick up some great reviews. At ‘IMMORTAL SOUL’ was listed as one of the year’s Top Twenty albums, alongside such legendary and enduring heavyweights as Motörhead, Saxon, Anthrax and also listed it amongst their Top Ten amongst Dream Theater and Symphony X.

For RIOT’s fourteenth studio album was voted best metal comeback album, although, ironically, in the ensuing write-up the reviewer noted: “Don’t call it a comeback — RIOT has been around in some form or another for many years. But you can call it a ‘revamp’ because it’s the return of the classic 1988 ‘Thundersteel’ line-up — and what a lineup it is! With vocalist Tony Moore leading the charge on the new album ‘IMMORTAL SOUL’, it’s power metal at its finest.”
UK magazine Fireworks said of the album “it’s great to see this legendary metal band back on fine form…” and in an interview in the same issue Tony Moore was quoted as saying “I love the opening song ‘Riot’ because I’m speaking about something I’m very passionate about, and also because it’s such an ass-kicking song. We wanted people to know that this particular incarnation of RIOT is back 100%.”
RIOT are currently preparing themselves for three showcase American gigs:
18th January 2012                 B.B. Kings, New York City, NY
19th January 2012                 Jaxx, West Springfield, VA
20th January 2012                 Montage Music Hall, Rochester, NY
Tony Moore is particularly hyped up about these shows, after the disappointment of having to cancel a European tour because of a dangerous infection in his jaw: “I can’t wait to get back out on stage. I know the other guys feel the same, but after the frustration of losing those European gigs I really want to get out there and give it all I’ve got.”
After this clutch of dates Tony Moore, guitarists Mark Reale and Mike Flyntz, bassist Don Van Stavern and drummer Bobby Jarzombek (who were responsible for the band’s legendary albums ‘Thundersteel’ and ‘The Privilege Of Power’ in the late Eighties) will join the 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise from Florida to the Cayman Islands and back which departs from Miami on 23rd January. Alongside fellow metallers including Hammerfall, Kamelot, Children Of Bodom, Stratovarius, and Nightwish RIOT will perform two shows on different nights and will be available for interviews during the voyage. if that’s not enough, RIOT have now been confirmed to headline Headbangers Open Air Festival in Germany (26th – 28th July). A press release from the festival reads: “As a special Christmas present we can announce [that] after several years of trying we finally managed to get the confirmation from RIOT! The band will play a legendary setlist with almost all classics of their long career!”
